I don’t understand why people are surprised or hurt when the opinions and beliefs they share in a public forum are challenged or disagreed with. I give them props for expressing themselves and I think everyone should, but it never hurts to really think things through before clicking “post”.That doesn’t mean people should censor themselves or not post anything at all. After all, columnists receive angry letters all the time but that doesn’t stop they from publishing their opinions daily. They understand that disagreement is inevitable and potentially healthy if you are willing to consider what other people have to say.

With our generation pretty much growing up on the internet and using it as a way to express ourselves, I think it is important to remember that your tumblr isn’t your diary. It can be, but it isn’t necessarily the best place to voice all your thoughts and opinions if you aren’t prepared to deal with people challenging or disagreeing with what you say.
